End of Life Care

Compassionate pet bereavement services

As pet owners ourselves, we know just how hard coming to terms with the end of your pet’s life can be. Pets are such wonderful members of the family, and their loss can be very upsetting. Our caring and compassionate team are specially trained to provide you and your pet with respect and understanding at this difficult time and support you as you go through your decision-making process.

Larkmead Vets’ end of life pet care service is here to make a really difficult time just that little bit easier for you. Our vets and nurses are here to answer any questions you may have, so please don’t hesitate to talk to us.

We all secretly hope our pets will live a full and healthy life and pass away peacefully in their sleep. Unfortunately, this is not the norm and often, it is the responsibility of the owner to make the decision to end their pet’s suffering and let them go.

Euthanasia means ‘good death’, which may seem like a contradiction in terms, however, it is the bravest and kindest last thing you can do for your treasured pet. It’s a way to ensure this time is as peaceful, gentle, and dignified as possible.

Whether you wish to have your pet buried at home or opt for a cremation, our team can talk you through the different options. Individual cremation can be requested, and we can arrange for your pet’s ashes to be returned to you in a variety of scatter tubes, caskets, urns or mementos.

We work with a trusted, local pet crematorium, where the staff will take the greatest care of your beloved pet’s final journey.
