Larkmead Vets are pleased to offer appointments at five branches in South Oxfordshire: Didcot (Park Road), Didcot (Great Western Park), Sutton Courtenay, Cholsey, and Benson with Wantage opening in 2024.
All our branches have fully equipped consulting rooms and comfortable waiting areas. For those patients who have difficulty attending the surgery or have non-urgent queries we also offer a telephone or video consultation service.
To book, call any of our surgeries or use our online booking system.

When you make an appointment with us at the surgery or via video, you will have ample time to discuss your concerns in a friendly relaxed environment. We have an experienced team who are all pet owners themselves and understand how important it is to make every visit a positive and rewarding one. If, after using our video consultation service your pet needs to be seen at the surgery, we will arrange a consultation for you at one of our branches at no extra charge.
Our aim is to tailor our care to meet the individual needs of every patient, so we do our best to ensure that you can see the same vet every time you come to the surgery. We also understand that our clients have busy lives and work commitments so as well as being accessible throughout the week, we are also open for routine consultations on Saturdays at our Cholsey and in Didcot (Park Road) branches. On Sundays we also cater for a limited number of routine appointments at our main Didcot Park Road surgery with no additional fees from a weekday.
Larkmead Vets are proud to maintain Silver Cat Friendly Clinic status with the ISFM (International Society of Feline Medicine). This means that we can provide specialist care for our feline patients. At our Didcot Park Road and Cholsey branches we have dedicated cat waiting areas and hospitalisation facilities. At Didcot Park Road we also have a purpose-built feline consulting room to offer cat-only clinics.

Our branches are open throughout the week, and on Saturdays at Cholsey and Didcot. We also offer a Sunday surgery at Didcot at no extra cost to you; the consultation fee and all treatment costs are the same on Sundays as on any other day of the week.
The aim is to provide veterinary care for cases that require prompt attention without incurring additional ‘out of hours’ fees. Our Sunday surgery also caters for a limited number of routine appointments too.
Larkmead Vets are available to care for your pets 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Our Out of Hours Service is run by our own dedicated team of vets and nurse at our Didcot Park Road surgery. Should your pet be unwell out of normal practice opening hours, call the Emergency number. Your details will be passed to our Duty Vet who will advise you and arrange for your pet to be seen if necessary.
‘Out of Hours’ fees for consultations apply at these times.
Our Lifetime Care Club Gold membership allows you to receive unlimited free standard vet consultations for the duration of your membership. It is also a great way to spread the cost of annual vaccination charges and save money on routine preventative pet care, plus offers discounts on other products and services within the practice.

Did you know that you can see one of our own vets from the comfort of your own home? We even have some evening appointments available at no additional cost to routine hours.
Whilst this is not ideal for every appointment, it is very useful if a hands-on examination of your pet is not essential or in some situations, not possible. Examples of when the video service works well include all routine post-op checks (at days 2 and 10 after surgery), 6 month health checks in healthy pets and any queries when you’re not sure if your pet needs to see a vet or not, or general advice concerns. As with seeing a vet in the surgery, the vet you talk to will have full access to your pet’s medical history plus any test results.
How does it work?
After booking you will receive a Zoom link via e-mail (you can ignore this if you have chosen the telephone call option).
On the day of your appointment make sure you have your pet with you and Zoom downloaded on your device. When you are ready just click on your Zoom link at your allocated appointment time. You will be ‘met’ in the call by one of our vets. If an in-house appointment is deemed necessary, this can be booked for you by the vet at no additional consultation cost.
PLEASE NOTE: Video/telephone appointments should not be used for emergencies or repeat prescription checks. If the vet decides that your pet requires prescription medication following the video appointment, then a follow-up consultation will be made at the surgery on your behalf with no additional consultation charge*.
We’ve received lots of positive feedback on this convenient service so why not give it a try the next time you need veterinary advice?
Any medication that is dispensed, services or follow-up consultations will still be chargeable. Please discuss with your vet if you are unsure.
The best place to treat your pet will always be at our practices, where we have access to a wide range of diagnostic equipment and medication. We do understand however, that there may be occasions where a home visit is more appropriate for you and your pet. In urgent circumstances, we will always do our best to send someone to see you as soon as possible. For pre-planned visits we ask for a week’s notice.
Our qualified team of Registered Veterinary Nurses work closely with our vets to offer additional clinics and advice. These include weight management clinics, behavioural advice, blood pressure monitoring, medication administration (including injections), dental checks, anal gland emptying, nail clipping and microchip implantation.
