A.I. Services & Training
Artificial Insemination is a great way of introducing new genetics into a herd without the costly expense of a bull. It may also improve your biosecurity by allowing you to breed your own stock bull or heifers with higher genetic merit, without the risk of buying in disease.
Whilst there is no guarantee of pregnancy, conception rates of above 80% with Artificial Insemination have been achieved using our protocol.
Semen cannot be ordered through the practice but there are several companies offering delivery to your door (if you own your own tank) or to our Cholsey branch to be stored in our tank – this can be done well in advance.
We can provide Artificial Insemination services for other farm animals in addition to cattle – talk to us to find out more.
We are happy to offer advice – whether it is deciphering EBVs or which traits might be most valuable to you.

Pricing
There are no visit fees associated with the Artificial Insemination process. Double AI increases conception rates.

Training Services
Our DEFRA-approved, hands-on three-day course covers all aspects of artificial insemination and is ideal to equip your team to deliver AI on-farm. They will gain the skills and knowledge needed for effective and confident DIY AI.
These courses run on-demand and are available to non-clients as well as our existing clients. The 3-day course is £550 +VAT per person, with a free place offered to host farms. If you are interested in hosting, you must be within a 90 minute radius of the Larkmead practice (OX10 9PA).
