Registered Clients & Pets Only
You and your pet will need to be registered with Larkmead Vets for you to use our repeat prescription service and your pet will need to have been examined by us.
Age Limit for Collection
Anyone collecting prescription medication from our vet practices must be over 18 years of age and ID may be required.
Repeat Prescribing
If your vet has prescribed long term medication or food for your pet, you need to be aware that Larkmead Vets complies with the Veterinary Medicines Regulations Act 2005 and with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons guidelines. For us to continue supplying medication your pet should be examined every 3 months. This is to ensure the drug is proving effective, the dosage is ideal for your pet and there are no undesirable side effects or masking of other conditions. There is a charge for the 3-month re-examination. Please contact us if you would like an estimate of the costs per month for your pet’s care or if you would like any further information.
Written Prescriptions
You may obtain the relevant veterinary medicinal products from Larkmead Veterinary Group OR ask for a written prescription and obtain these medicines from another veterinary surgeon or pharmacy. A charge is made for written prescriptions and your pet will still be required to attend regular examinations in order that we can supply the prescription for an animal under our care. Please be aware that we have no control over third-party suppliers and cannot take responsibility for any medications or other products they may supply to you.
Refunds
Please note that we are unable to refund any medication once it has been taken off the premises – please check the contents of your order before leaving and let a member of the team know if you have any concerns. This is because;
Off-Label Medicine Use
As part of your pet’s treatment, we may need to use a medicine ‘off-label’, this is because there is not always a veterinary licensed medicine available for every situation. If you would like to know more about Larkmead Vet’s policy on Off-Label Medicine Use just click on this link.
The consent form which is signed by the client when a pet is admitted for treatment authorises us to use off label medication where no licensed alternative is available. If you require further information about these consent forms please ask to speak to one of the vets.
Prescription Food
If you are ordering prescription food, please refer to the Repeat Prescription information above.
